This tutorial is still a draft. The pr0pera icon, premade and zipped pr0pera profile folders and screenshots will be added later.

Pr0pera is just, of course, a name I chose. You can call it PornOpera if you want!

It is probably a good idea to backup your default Opera profile folder first!

1. Create a folder called “pr0pera” anywhere (in our example it will be “D:\pr0pera”)

2. For added privacy, make the folder hidden

3. In the new (and hidden) “pr0pera” folder, create a new, blank file called “pr0pera.ini”

4. Create a new shortcut on your Desktop pointing to “C:\Program Files\Opera\opera.exe” /settings D:\pr0pera\pr0pera.ini and rename it to “pr0pera”

5. Double-click the pr0pera shortcut on your Desktop and your new pr0pera browser window will open

6. Go to opera:config#UserPrefs|OperaDirectory and write D:\pr0pera\ into the box

7. Click SAVE

8. To distinguish your pr0pera from your default Opera, first go to opera:config#UserPrefs|Title and write pr0pera into the box and click SAVE (note the change in the titlebar) [optional]

9. To change the icon, first download it, put into your pr0pera folder, go to opera:config#UserPrefs|ApplicationIcon and write D:\pr0pera\propera.ico into the box and click SAVE [optional]

10. Restart pr0pera (close it and double-click the pr0pera shortcut on your Desktop) and your new pr0pera profile will be created (note that your pr0pera folder will be populated with some files and folders)

As you can see, the browser’s name in the title bar changed to pr0pera and the icon in the Windows Taskbar changed to a grayscale Opera icon.

Now, let’s make pr0pera forget your browsing!

1. Open Preferences (Ctrl-F12)

2. In the General>Startup drop-down menu, choose “Start with Speed Dial”

3. Go to Advanced>History>Addresses and set it to “0″

4. Uncheck “Remember content on visited pages”

5. Set “Memory cache” to “Off”

6. Set “Disk cache” to “Off”

7. Just for sure, check “Empty on exit”

8. In Advanced>Cookies choose “Accept cookies from the site I visit”

9. If you don’t want to keep cookies, check “Delete new cookies when exiting Opera”

10. Click OK in the Preferences window.

11. Go to opera:config#UserPrefs|MaxDirectHistoryLines and change the value to 0

12. Go to opera:config#UserPrefs|MaxGlobalHistoryLines and change the value to 0

Now you are ready to use your pr0pera!

Every time you double click “pr0pera” on your desktop, you open a clean opera profile that will not record any of your browsing history, cookies, etc.

From here on, you can customize the look of pr0pera anyhow you want. To distinguish it further from your default Opera, you can change the skin tint to red, or download a totally new skin.

Next time, I will show you how to integrate pr0pera (and make it truly invisible) into your “normal” Opera by creating right-click context menu entries that will open pages and links in pr0pera.

Suggestions are always welcome!
